The Hand Center’s surgeons and certified hand
therapists consult together on cases to assure

approach, which incorporates on-site diagnostic
x-ray and MRI services as well as SRO’s fully

The Hand Center at SRO is led by two
respected, highly rated surgeons: Kai-Uwe
Mazur, M.D. and Raymond Severt, M.D.
Drs. Mazur and Severt share a combined
27 years of experience in providing
top-quality hand and upper extremity
orthopaedic care to North Bay residents.
Both surgeons actively participate in
ongoing research at the national level.
Kai-Uwe Mazur, M.D.
Dr. Mazur is a board-certified orthopaedic
surgeon with one year of specialized training
in hand and upper extremity surgery. Following
a certification exam, Dr. Mazur received a
Certificate of Added Qualification for Hand and
Upper Extremity Surgery (CAQ) from the American
Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has been elected
to the American Society for Surgery of the Hand,
and is a Fellow of the American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons.
A magna cum laude graduate of Brown University,
Dr. Mazur received his medical degree with honors
from New York University School of Medicine.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency
at the University of Southern California (USC),
and pursued further training in hand and upper
extremity surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota.
Dr. Mazur holds several provisional U.S. medical
device and surgical technique patents, and is
cofounder and Chief Medical Director of Sonoma
Orthopedic Products, a Sonoma County-based

Raymond Severt, M.D.
Dr. Severt is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon
with one year of specialized training in hand and
upper extremity surgery. Following a certification
exam, Dr. Severt received a Certificate of Added
Qualification for Hand and Upper Extremity
Surgery (CAQ) from the American Board of Orthopaedic
Surgery. He is a member of the American
Society for Surgery of the Hand, and is a Fellow of
the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
A magna cum laude graduate of UCLA with a
Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, Dr. Severt
received his medical degree with honors from
the UCLA School of Medicine, where he also
completed his orthopaedic surgery residency.
He completed additional specialty training in
hand and upper extremity surgery at the Hand
Center of San Antonio.
A familiar figure in the Sonoma County medical
community, Dr. Severt has practiced in the North
