The Sports Medicine Center at SRO, the only one of its kind in northern California, is proud to introduce our experienced team of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and support staff that work together to keep you in the game.
SRO Surgeons
Thomas C. Degenhardt, M.D.
Thomas Degenhardt, M.D. is a board-certified
orthopaedic surgeon and holds an additional
fellowship in sports medicine. Dr. Degenhardt
specializes in complex procedures of the knee.
Dr. Degenhardt is the team orthopaedic surgeon
for Sonoma State University and Montgomery
High School, and has also served as team
physician for the United States Ski Team.
Michael J. McDermott, M.D.
Dr. McDermott is a board-certified orthopaedic
surgeon with an additional fellowship in sports
medicine. He specializes in sports medicine
and other orthopaedic problems with emphasis
on complex reconstruction of the knee and
shoulder.
Dr. McDermott is the team physician for the
Santa Rosa Scorchers, a professional Women’s
football team, as well as the Cardinal Newman
High School Football Program. He was also
the former Director of the Orthopaedic
Sports Medicine Service at the Naval Medical
Academy in San Diego.
Gary A. Stein, M.D.
As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon,
Dr. Stein has pioneered techniques in hip
and knee replacement surgery and has been
performing minimally invasive hip replacement
surgeries since 2001.
Dr. Stein has been active in community sports
and recreational organizations, including the
YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and C.Y.O.
For over 10 years Dr. Stein was also the team
physician for Cardinal Newman High School
sports program.

Physical Therapists
- Chris Krug, MSPT
Chris has been the Director of Rehab
Services since the Rehabilitation Sports
Medicine department of Santa Rosa
Orthopaedics opened in 2004.
Chris worked as a staff physical therapist in
sports and orthopedic clinics in Oakland
and Las Vegas before moving to Santa Rosa
in 2001. He has worked with professional
athletes including basketball players from
the Golden State Warriors, acrobats and
dancers from Cirque du Soleil, EFX, and
Lord of the Dance, as well as college and
high school athletes.

- Tom Sather, Ph.D., PT
Tom is a knowledgeable therapist with thirty
years of orthopedic and sports medicine
experience. Tom graduated with distinction
with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Biological Sciences, a Master of Arts degree
in Physical Therapy and a Ph.D. in Exercise
Physiology.
Tom works as a liaison between SRO’s
rehabilitation services and the Athletic
Training Center at Sonoma State University.
He works with a number of women’s athletic
teams, offering conditioning, training and
injury prevention programs for schools such
as Sonoma State University and the Empire
Volleyball Club.

- Pat Hall, PT
Pat has been practicing physical therapy for
30 years, and had extensive experience in
acute hospital rehabilitation and management
before focusing in the area of outpatient
orthopedic therapy.
Pat enjoys working with people of all ages
and loves assisting patients’ return to sports,
work and leisure activity. She believes
strongly in the importance of patient
education and correction of posture and
body mechanics in maximizing functional
recovery.

- Kimberly L. Fletcher, MSPT, Cert. MDT
Kimberly has worked as an outpatient
physical therapist for nearly 13 years. She
has a wealth of experience in large medical
clinics, including working with the Nashville
Sports Medicine clinic. She has worked with
athletes and athletic trainers and patients of
all ages.
Kimberly has developed successful neck
and back programs and is McKenzie
Certified. She holds a BA in dance and has
a strict eye for stabilization techniques.
Kimberly plays a vital role in the treatment
of neck and back issues with the Sports
Medicine Center at SRO.
