McDermott testimonial

I was beginning to feel hopeless by the time I came to SRO, but Dr. McDermott immediately restored my optimism. Dr. McDermott knew that my best chance for lasting pain relief would be to have an osteoarticular transfer system (OATS) procedure, a procedure that transfers healthy cartilage to an unhealthy joint.

My insurance wasn’t initially willing to cover another surgery, but Dr. McDermott did everything possible to get them to cover the procedure. Three months after my surgery, I can once again enjoy regular walks at Spring Lake several times a week. Words cannot express how relieved I am to be living again without constant pain in my knee.

Dr. McDermott fought for me when my other doctor and insurance company had given up, and my healthy knee reflects his skill as a surgeon. I’m looking forward to trick-or-treating with my youngest, and Dr. McDermott sponsored me in the Santa Rosa Run or Dye 5k in October!

Lea Pollock lives in Santa Rosa with her boyfriend Tony and her youngest child. In April of 2009, Lea took a fall that caused an injury to her right knee. Lea went to see her doctor and proceeded to exhaust all treatment options. She tried everything from ibuprofen, ice, acupuncture and physical therapy to arthroscopic surgery—none of which relieved the persistent pain in her leg. When her doctor told her there was nothing else she could do, Lea began searching for a second opinion. Lea’s daughter helped her put together a list of doctors in the area qualified to treat her complex knee problem and Lea picked Dr. Michael McDermott at Santa Rosa Orthopaedics.
