Understanding Tendon Pain

Tendons connect muscles to bones. They are inherently tough and very flexible bands of tissue that, when torn, inflamed or irritated can cause persistent pain in the tissues surrounding the joint. As a result, the joint can feel weak and the area may appear irritated, swollen and warm to the touch. Traditional treatments for tendon pain include rest, physical therapy, medications and sometimes surgery, all of which can require long periods of recovery before patients can get back to daily activities.

“I am finding that the TENEX Health TX treatment is a very effective for patients with soft tissue or tendon damage who have tried all of the standard treatments to relieve pain with physical therapy, steroid injections and medication,” Dr. Dominic Mintalucci says. “Since the surrounding tissue is not affected by this procedure, the patient is able to enjoy a faster recovery period along with less discomfort and pain – particularly when compared to the traditional open surgical procedures.”

What is TENEX Health TX

TENEX Health TX is a minimally-invasive technique that works to break down and safely remove damaged tendon tissue without disturbing the surrounding healthy tissue. Tissue and tendon injuries in the joints can be extremely painful and debilitating, particularly for anyone who pursues an active lifestyle.

Taking advantage of the most advanced treatment for these types of conditions can be a critical element for maintaining a high quality of life. “TENEX is particularly helpful for anyone who may not want to undergo traditional surgery due to a variety of reasons including; the longer recovery period and activity limitations,” explains Dr. Mintalucci.

TENEX is often used as a form of treatment for soft tissue and tendon injuries, and helps to heal a variety of issues including:

  • Rotator Cuff Tears
  • Runner’s Knee
  • Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow
  • Achilles Tendon
  • Shoulder pain

TENEX Health TX makes it possible to treat the primary cause of the pain in the most effective way possible by combining ultrasound with a highly-advanced microchip known as the TX MicroTip™. Ultrasound is used to pinpoint the exact location of the damaged tendon tissue and then the TX MicroTIp chip is activated to deliver ultrasonic energy to break down and remove the damaged tissue. It also helps to stimulate a healing response.

“Patients prefer the TENEX Health TX system since it provides the same positive results as traditional surgery without the inherited disadvantages,” explains Dr. Mintalucci. “Because this procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed under 15 minutes on an outpatient basis, it requires minimal anesthesia. As a result, most of my patients’ experience very little pain from the procedure and we find that they are able to manage any lingering swelling with over-the-counter medications.”  Patients generally return to normal activities in as few as six weeks.
