One Step Ahead
SRO’s Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Program provides state-of-the-art care for all types of problems related to the foot and ankle. This includes, but is not limited to: trauma of the foot and post-traumatic reconstruction of the foot and ankle, foot deformities related to neuromuscular, arthritic and congenital conditions, tendon injuries of the hind foot and ankle, sports-related injuries and foot complications of diabetes mellitus.
Foot and ankle injuries are common in people across a range of lifestyles from top-performing athletes to everyday runners, to occasional marathon participants and everything in between. In fact, 75 percent of Americans will experience some type of foot problem in their lifetime. Each year in the U.S., an estimated three million people are treated by orthopaedists for ankle injuries alone. Injuries that are not recognized or are improperly addressed can lead to significant functional disability. This may affect quality of life and in some cases impact one’s ability to accomplish everyday tasks.
Our Foot & Ankle Specialist
The medical team at SRO’s Foot and Ankle Program emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive evaluation in order to develop a proper diagnosis. Then we use the latest treatments and surgical techniques to restore function and relieve pain. We invite you to come and see what makes our patients so satisfied with their care.
Our onsite diagnostic imaging department aids our physicians in quickly and accurately diagnosing your injury or condition. Because radiologic exams are common during an orthopaedic visit, we have developed programs that are efficient, effective, and convenient.
SRO’s Sports Medicine Center offers comprehensive diagnostic x-ray capabilities. We have also incorporated a state-of-the-art open Magnetic Resonance Extremity (MRI) Scanner, helping to eliminate the claustrophobic feeling some patients experience with traditional MRI. Each of our technologists is fully certified in his or her area of expertise. All of our MRI interpretations are performed by board certified radiologists specializing in musculoskeletal diagnoses.
Therapy treatments may include manual therapy, exercise, postural and ergonomic education, and modalities such as ultrasound, electric stimulation, paraffin, moist heat, and ice. Typical goals include increasing flexibility and strength, improving gait and balance, and decreasing pain in an effort to return our patients to full function.
Our experienced and highly skilled physical therapists have completed extensive post-graduate education in orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation, and they stay current on the most effective approaches to injury prevention and rehabilitation.
They evaluate and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, including acute injuries, degenerative conditions, and athletic and work related injuries. The therapists and physicians work closely together to ensure consistently superb rehabilitation of post-surgical patients.
