Joint Replacement

Out with the old, in with the new—for Life!

Joint replacement surgery is an increasingly common procedure that can dramatically change a person’s life. Our Joint Replacement Team at SRO includes experienced surgeons who can help guide you in the decision of whether joint replacement is the right solution for your ailing hip, knee, or shoulder. They then work closely with our rehabilitation therapists to ensure the most successful possible outcome.

Not many years ago, the implantation of new body parts after injury or age has compromised their function sounded like science fiction. But with rapid advances in medical technology and know-how, total joint replacement (also known as “arthroplasty”) has now become an almost commonplace solution to a host of orthopedic problems that people formerly had to live with—often in great discomfort and pain.

That said, the decision to undergo joint replacement surgery should be undertaken only after careful consideration and consultation with highly qualified medical providers.

At Santa Rosa Orthopedics, our board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeons have performed countless total joint procedures with the goal of enhancing our patients’ function and enjoyment of everyday life, free of pain and the restricted movement that it often causes.

Total joint procedures are performed to repair severe injuries or to replace joints destroyed by arthritis and other bone diseases. Weight-bearing joints are naturally under the greatest strain and are more likely to lose protective cartilage over time, particularly the hips and knees. Shoulders, however, are subject to their own unique strains and are a common focus of joint replacement surgery.

Available Procedures Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery
  • Anterior and Posterior hip replacement surgery

  • Total and partial knee replacement surgery
  • Total shoulder replacement surgery
  • Reverse total shoulder replacement surgery

Minimally invasive techniques help reduce post-surgical pain and recovery time. Recent years have also seen improved implants and more exacting physical therapy techniques to better assist the recovery and enhanced function of patients.

And as in all SRO services, our in-house diagnostic imaging technologies and physical/occupational therapy specialists help assure a coordinated, efficient and convenient treatment program focused on individual patient needs.
