SRO PAs are also board certified and licensed to provide medical and surgical care as an integral part of the orthopedic surgical team. Our PAs are involved in all aspects of perioperative inpatient and outpatient management, acting on behalf of and within the supervision of their attending physician, and scope of their practice and licensure. The scope of their work may involve assisting in the operating room, performing joint injections, interpreting X-rays and evaluating and treating orthopaedic problems in the orthopaedic clinic.
Jennifer Henshaw-Lefever, OTR/L, CHT, PA
Certified Physician Assistant, Nationally Certified Hand Therapist, Licensed Occupational Therapist
Jennifer Henshaw-Lefever’s professional skill set includes serving as a certified physician assistant, a nationally certified hand therapist and a licensed occupational therapist. The multiple disciplines She brings all these disciplines into play in her service as a physician assistant to Dr. Mazur.
Jennifer earned her degree in occupational therapy from San Jose State University in 1982, was elected to the American Society of Hand Therapists in 1986, and became nationally certified as a hand therapist in 1991. She has worked in hand therapy in clinics in San Jose, Santa Rosa and Sonoma. After graduating from the physician assistant program at Stanford Medical Centre, she was certified in 1994, and worked in that capacity in family practice before returning to hand therapy in 1999. She joined Santa Rosa Orthopaedics in November 2005.
Jennifer is widely respected for her strong evaluation and treatment skills, which she has been sharing with SRO patients and staff since she joined the practice in 2005. She greatly enjoys the communication and collaboration with physicians and staff members at SRO and finds it the ideal environment for providing effective care.
Away from work, Jennifer enjoys field trips with her son and learning ever more about gardening, home improvement DIY projects, and furniture refinishing.
Rodney Gerrit DeKleuver NCCPA
NCCPA-Certified Physician Assistant
Rodney Gerrit DeKleuver graduated in 2018 from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies and is certified to practice by the State of California. He previously earned his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in anthropology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2014.
Before attending college, Rodney served multiple deployments from 2003-2008 in the U.S. Navy as a platoon and battalion aid station corpsman with the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.
Rodney serves as the physician assistant to Dr. Gary Stein, focusing on sport and degenerative orthopedics. His responsibilities include but are not limited to the care of acute and chronic orthopedic injuries and disease, preoperative and postoperative management of patients, and surgical first assists.
Away from work, Rodney maintains a lifelong interest in the liberal arts, nature, and physical fitness.
Jason Evan Justin, NCCPA
Certified Physician Assistant
Jason Evan Justin (JJ) is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed to practice in the State of California. He graduated from the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in 2017. Before settling on a career in medicine, he earned a bachelor’s degree in acting and directing from California State University Long Beach and a teaching credential in special education from California State University, Northridge. He works as a PA for Dr. Pourtaheri, and has extensive experience in urgent care, orthopedics, and occupational medicine.
JJ’s diverse educational and professional background has shaped his perspective as a medical provider, inspiring his view of each patient not just as a presenting problem in search of a diagnosis, but as a highly individualistic, whole person. His medical philosophy is to serve patients by staying current with advanced medical knowledge, being sensitive to individual needs, and above all else, to practice compassion. From the first moments of a patient’s initial office visit, he does his best to guide them through the diagnostic process, help them understand the specifics of their injury or condition, the available treatment options, and the rehabilitation activities that will help them reach their goals.
In his leisure hours, JJ enjoys theatre, fishing, tennis, traveling, and family life with his wife, daughter Esther, and son Eli.
Sarah Swanson NCCPA-Certified Physician Assistant
Sarah Swanson earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California in 2021, where she was honored with the program’s Academic Achievement Award for ranking at the top of her class. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Sarah is licensed by the State of California and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Her patient care philosophy is rooted in allowing patients to be in control of their own health while she does everything possible to provide them with the information they need to make informed choices about their care. She prides herself on creating a personalized treatment plan for each patient and then supporting them as needed to recover from their injury or illness and enjoy good health. She works as a PA for Dr. Axelrad.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys everyday life with her fiancé and their dog Tyson, volunteering with shelter animals, dancing, skiing, playing tennis, trying new restaurants, and exploring the outdoors.
